3 Signs You Might Be Struggling With Depression

Depression is a common mental health issue that negatively affects an individual’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviours [1]. Emotional and cognitive signs are often the most prevalent signs of depression. Individuals with depression may experience feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or emptiness. They may also have a loss of interest in activities that they once enjoyed. These emotional symptoms can be debilitating and can significantly impact an individual’s daily life.

In addition to emotional symptoms, people struggling with depression may also experience physical symptoms such as changes in appetite, sleep disturbances and fatigue. Physical symptoms can further exacerbate the emotional symptoms of depression, making it even more challenging to manage. It is essential to address both emotional and physical symptoms when seeking help for depression.

Depression can also manifest in cognitive symptoms. Individuals with depression may have difficulty concentrating, making decisions, or remembering details. They may also experience negative thoughts or feelings of worthlessness or guilt. These cognitive symptoms can make it challenging to perform daily tasks and can significantly impact an individual’s quality of life.

At times, depression can result is lesser known signs such as loss of sex drive, brain fog, bodily aches and pains, moving and speaking slowly slower than usual. Symptoms vary from individual to individual. It is crucial to recognize these symptoms and seek professional help to manage them effectively.
